How to Fix the Crossbow That Will Not Cock

Many crossbow models require the safety mechanism off.  Many other crossbows require the fire position for your crossbow to cock properly.

Crossbows automatically engage the safety when you cock them. In a situation such as this, check your crossbow’s owners manual. The owner’s manual will tell you if your bow automatically engages the safety.

Another place to check when a  crossbow will not cock is the trigger mechanism. Many times the trigger mechanism may be dry or rusted. A dry and rusted  mechanism can cause the bow to malfunction.

A quick fix for this would be to apply a few drop of oil, such as gun oil, near the safety to help it loosen things up.

Although, if lubricant was applied on the serving this may be preventing the crossbow from cocking. If this is the case you will need to take your bow to a technician so that the trigger housing can be taken apart and given a good cleaning.
